Chinese New Year || our version

Being 1/4 Chinese in our house, Adam and I always like to celebrate Chinese New Year in at least a small way, usually by inviting food loving friends over and cooking a big(ish) feast.
This year we almost forgot and only remembered at the last minute.

I decorated the table and surrounding area with lanterns and got to work in the kitchen ransacking the fridge and rustling up a big-a feast as we could manage.

Around 8pm our guests had arrived, bringing supplies with them and we all sat around our huge dining table on an assortment of chairs and let the feasting begin. Starting of with a spicy chicken and mushroom noodle soup using home made chicken stock resulting in possible my best soup yet ;) followed by a round of carrot and cashew dumplings I made using a new recipe, (which I will share if any body is interested?). Adam then made us a huge pot of egg fried rice and a delicious vegetable and black bean stir fry, this was then followed again by a round of delicious chicken gyoza, home made by one of our guests H.
We then finished off the evening with rounds polenta and orange cake, jasmine tea and jelly snakes while watching the snow falling outside.

Did you do anything for CNY?
